Bakers View Townhomes Ribbon Cutting
By 9:45 am on March 9, a crowd had already gathered for the celebratory ribbon cutting to commemorate the completion of several brand new townhomes, an ongoing project of the Bakers View Street Homeownership Development that will eventually feature 87 townhomes, each designed to be purchased by low to moderate-income families.
The non-profit organization, Druid Heights Community Development Corporation was established in 1974 and is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors that helped make this project possible. Given Druid Heights’ role as one of Baltimore’s oldest neighborhoods and its rich historical background, this project that was begun in May 2009 represents a long-awaited opportunity to expand on the community’s historic legacy.
Prior to the ribbon cutting and house tour, lively speeches were delivered by Druid Heights Community Development Corporation Executive Director, Anthony Pressley; its Director of Housing, Chloe Williams; founder, Mrs. Jackie Cornish; as well as Baltimore City’s Assistant Secretary Carol Gilbert; Commissioner Michael Braverman; Comptroller Joan Pratt; and Mayor “Jack” Young.
Following the ceremonial ribbon cutting, everyone was welcomed to tour the house, enjoy refreshments, and explore the possibility of purchasing one of these new homes.
Here’s how to inquire and learn more about purchasing one of these gorgeous townhomes.
