ABOUT “GOOD MORNING FARM FRIENDS”:

This reading is given by Ms. Samya, who's currently a Summer 2022 YouthWorks participant with Community Builders at Pedestal Gardens (a Baltimore City residential community adjacent to the Eutaw Marshburn Elementary School and near Druid Hill Park.)

Ms. Samya is a rising 2022-23 junior at Arlington Baptist School. She also works as a lifeguard and manages a business with her family.

Yet Ms. Samya's ambitions don't stop there: during the summer of 2022, she enrolled in the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) to proactively add credits for her major in Information Technology.

(We can't wait to see what she'll be doing in the future!)

If you want to read along with Ms. Samya, here's the story.

(If older children are enjoying this video, you might want to print out this text so they can read along.)

"Hello my name is Samya and I'll be reading “Good Morning, Farm Friends” by Annie Bach.

The morning sun is on the rise. It’s time to open weary eyes

The farm is full of sleepyheads Let's help our friends get out of bed

Good morning ducklings--rise and shine, It's time for breakfast--get in line!

Who's that dozing in the hay Wake up pups--let's start the day

The llamas have been up for hours Nibbling on the wildflowers

Let's go sheep--open the gate The pasture is waiting--don't be late!

Hello pigs, are you awake? get up you have a bath to take

The cows don't need a wake-up call they're waiting at the milking stall

It's early still --not too hot it's a great time for a morning trot

The hens don't want to leave the nest morning snuggles are the best

But Rooster has a job to do “Cock-a-Doodle-Doodle-Do!”

Everyone's awake—hooray! There's a lot to see and do today.

And when the morning work is done our farm friends will have so much fun!"

...and that's the end."

Thank you Ms. Samaya for that fun story about our friends on a farm!
