June 15, 2021 was a special day of celebration that will likely be long-remembered by proud Upton/Druid Heights families—as it offered the school’s first in-person graduation since 2019.

The Class of 2021 featured seven students representing the Renaissance Academy High School Class of 2021, and in addition to the outdoor ceremony, Baltimore City Public Schools also planned a livestream on Facebook as a celebratory simulcast to share the event with a far wider audience.

The program featured a diverse selection of music and visuals, including Melo Gía singing the National Anthem of the United States in Spanish, musician Aaron Myers sharing a moving interpretation of, Lift Every Voice and Sing, along with illustrated slides documenting historic events that we have all experienced.

Officiants included Renaissance Academy Principal Tammatha Woodhouse, Promise Heights Executive Director, Bronwyn Mayden, and several others on the stage. Featured virtual speakers included Mayor Brandon Scott, opening with his advice to,
