Welcome to Alex Bowley--Our Newest Team Member!
As a pre-teen in his homeland of Colombia in South America, Alex Bowley played competitive basketball, and later during his college years in the USA, he played competitive tennis against other universities. Alex is both a sports fan and also an athlete, so we won't be surprised if you happen to see him on a road or mountain bike traversing rough terrain of Baltimore city streets or elsewhere. And once the pandemic and remote office work ends, you might even bump into him at a neighborhood sports viewing venue.
Considering Alex's passion for watching and participating in competitive sports, it seems fitting that he chose a career aimed to advance team-based educational and community programs by means of examining and interpreting raw statistics. Alex’s background and experience in research, data, and policy work in various social policy, social services, and international development settings makes him an ideal member of our Promise Heights team.
Tracking and monitoring data trends, both positive and negative, is an essential tool to help strengthen educational outcomes for students and ensure that they and their families become healthier and more successful in Upton/Druid Heights. School attendance and classroom engagement has been challenging to evaluate across the nation since March 2020 when the pandemic triggered virtual studies from home.
Yet since our team has maintained direct and regular contact with students and closer-than-ever engagement with their families, while building countless innovative virtual and safe spring to autumn outdoor programs, we look forward to Alex applying his expertise to interpreting the data we are collecting. Please keep an eye out to the reports that we'll share later this year!
